Part 2: The mother of all water coolers

The MHE was initially meant for low/no noise pc cooling.
Unfortunately it was not as quiet as I hoped it would be, so I had to step up the developement of phase 2.

What could cool better than inside air? Outside air! (let's not get into phase change cooling or freezer mods here).
The goal was to build some sort of 'box' that I could put on the roof and just leave there.

I would need a big ass radiator and a big ass fan for some big ass airflow and build it all into a big ass case.

A local household shop, Punter on the Hoofddorpplein in Amsterdam, had a very nice and big fan on sale.
This 220v model has three blades and three speeds, is very sleek looking and easy to mount onto anything.

Trying to learn from my mistakes I immediately went to that garage/radiator specialist and got me the most perfect sized radiator for that fan.
It wasn't cheap (50 euro's), but it had perfect hookup connections, was new and therefor undamaged!

Next was to figure out what to construct to house this potential monster of chill.
Even though it is NOT intended for outdoor use, I decided on using MDF plates to build the case.

Not being a carpenter I could not help but to feel quite impressed with myself seeing the way it turned out.
All the walls and beams fitted to the millimeter, perhaps an alternative career?
Oh, don't mind the busted Enermax PSU in the back, Tweakers are not always winners

To improve weather resistance I coated the case two times with primer and two times with the top coat of paint.
I chose semi-camouflaged boring navy gray.

Then finally, the great day of mounting came.
I hooked everthing up and found that the thick layers of paint made it a little harder to fit
everything back into it's place.

Placing it on the roof is simple enough, my computer room is in the attic and the roof is right through the wall!

But I still needed to bust through the wall, so I took a big drill and drilled the two holes.
Led two copper pipes through it and hooked up the hoses.

and so ends part 2... (yeah yeah, I know it's short...)
